The ALX Series is Schlage's heavy-duty Grade 2 commercial cylindrical lock — a workhorse for medium-traffic commercial openings in offices, retail, multifamily, and light institutional applications. Modular chassis design allows field-replaceable function kits, chassis kits, and lever/finish combinations.
Function: Vandlgard Classroom. Vandlgard mechanism allows the lever to rotate freely without releasing the latch, dissipating force to prevent damage from forced-entry attempts. Outside lever is unlocked unless key locks/unlocks it. Inside lever always free for egress. Used in classrooms where the teacher can lock the door with a key for security drills or emergencies.
This configuration is the 6-Pin Conventional Cylinder variant.
