The Von Duprin 996L-KC-RV is a key-capture lever trim for 98/99 Series Rim and Vertical Rod exit devices. The key must be left in the cylinder when the lever is in the unlocked position — this prevents the user from leaving the door in storeroom function without realizing it.
Compatible with: Von Duprin 98 Series, 99 Series Rim and Vertical Rod exit devices.
Key-capture (storeroom security) function. Lever is rigid by default; key turns to capture position, releasing the lever to retract latch. Key cannot be removed from this position — forces user to re-lock before leaving.
Mounts via included screws. Rim cylinder required. Specify lever style and handing.
It prevents accidental unlocking. The user can't leave with the key (and the door unlocked) unless they actively re-lock the lever and rotate the key back to the removable position.
No. Classroom function (996L) allows the key to be removed in either locked or unlocked position. Key Capture forces the user to relock before removing the key.
